A replacement bullet and universal hex rod for manual roll-down hurricane shutter cranks — the linkage between your crank handle and the shutter's drive mechanism. If the crank spins freely without moving the shutter, binds partway through its travel, or the rod has snapped at the joint, this is usually the assembly that failed.
Crank handle not included. This is the wall-side assembly the handle hooks into.
What you get
Bullet end, approximately ½" diameter. This is what your crank handle engages. The set screw in the side clamps it to the hex rod, so the assembly stays field-adjustable — cut the rod to your length and re-clamp.
Universal joint. Lets the crank turn at an angle instead of demanding a straight pull. If your shutter sits high, behind a soffit, or the operator isn't square to the drive, the joint takes the misalignment instead of your wrist.
2-hole mounting plate with nylon bushing. The plate fastens to the exterior wall or header. The white nylon bushing at its centre is a bearing — the rod turns against nylon rather than steel-on-steel, which is what keeps the action smooth and quiet instead of grinding through the mount over time.
Hex rod, approximately 20 inches. Cut to your required length with a hacksaw or cutoff wheel, then set the bullet with its set screw.
Fits
Common on roll-down and roll-up shutter systems, including motorized shutters with a manual override. Compare the bullet diameter and hex size against your existing part before ordering — crank hardware is not standardized across manufacturers.
